The quiet foothills side of the Smokies, with Townsend and Cades Cove close by.

Walland sits in the Blount County foothills on the western edge of the mountains, where the Little River runs out of the park and the traffic of the Parkway never reaches. It is farmland, river bends and long ridge views rather than pancake houses, and it puts the Townsend entrance of the national park within a short drive. People who have stayed on the Pigeon Forge side once and want the mountains without the crowds tend to end up here.

What Walland feels like

  • The calmest of our areas, with dark skies and very little through traffic.
  • Townsend is the nearest place for groceries, tubing outfitters and a handful of restaurants.
  • Cades Cove loop and the Foothills Parkway are both easy morning drives.
  • Plan on driving for evening entertainment. Dollywood and Gatlinburg are worth the trip but they are not around the corner.
